A Study of Nonprofit Fundraising Event Activities and Results


In June of 2011 Mission Increase Foundation surveyed ministries a series of questions regarding the success of their fundraising events, about event management, and asked these leaders to rate many aspects of fundraising event management. Our hope with the survey is to learn what ministries do in their event management, learn what is working well and to share those findings with peers in the nonprofit sector so we can share ideas regarding best practices and trends in development.

GENERATING LEVERAGE, MULTIPLYING IMPACT
A case study of Mission Increase Foundation's blended model of charitable investment


Baylor University and Sagamore Institute's Center on Faith in Communities conducted a detailed examination of Mission Increase Foundation's activities and influence. The purpose of the study was threefold: to document the value of MIF's services among its constituents; to examine the effects participation with MIF has had on its clients; and to provide a third-party observation and description of the Foundation's model.

The results were subsequently published by Baylor University's Institute for Studies of Religion in December of 2010 and include a significant number of key positive findings regarding the overall effectiveness of Mission Increase Foundation's "Granting + Training = Growth" model.

In May, 2010, Mission Increase Foundation invited over 5,000 staff and board members of small to midsized Christian ministries[1] to participate in a survey regarding their board's role in fundraising, board governance, leadership and other board related issues. The survey revealed several key findings that Mission Increase Foundation believes are helpful for board and staff and for the ongoing study of board and staff relations, and offers new insight and information that could counter many long held opinions about boards.


[1] This survey does not include churches. Nonprofit ministries crossed a wide section of Mission Increase Foundation's clientele, ranging from homeless shelters to pregnancy resource centers, community development to missions and evangelism, and youth and children's services to marriage and family counseling.
