You and Your GTO |
Jan 21, 2010 |
In my position as National Senior Giving and Training Officer for Mission Increase Foundation, I am charged with coaching our Giving and Training Officer (GTO) staff. I have the privilege of reading all their weekly reports in which I see their great care and concern for you as a ministry leader and student of Transformational Giving.
• I see that they pray for you faithfully.
• I see that they search the scriptures for insight on your behalf.
• I see that they seek out each other’s education, experience and equipping for answers to your tough questions.
• I see that they struggle with Transformational Giving personally and seek to apply its teachings in meaningful ways in their own lives.
These are all the things we hope to spur you on to do with and on behalf of each of your champions. And, all will be topics at this month’s MIF workshops-Engaged Champions-The Heart of Your Development Program.
So, while I could write about the ways my family and I gave at the end of the year (blood donations, anonymous gifts, filling a tote bag for a foster child) in my attempt to learn more about the practice of TG, or about the first TG summit we held earlier this month in Colorado or even about some great new book I’m reading, I’m convinced I would serve you better by commending these dear GTOs to you.
This month in addition to our regular workshops, we are offering you the opportunity to schedule a one hour call with your GTO. I urge you to call your GTO today to schedule that appointment.
I’ll warn you not to expect your GTO to give you the latest tips and techniques for applying TG. While the call will be focused on you and the unique champions God has delivered into your hands, it won’t be an hour of your GTO telling you exactly what to do in order to meet your 2010 budget. It will be an hour of probing. It may intentionally leave you puzzling over what to do next and it will be framed with prayer. And, you can anticipate that after the call you and your GTO will have derived the next best step for your application of the principles taught in the January workshop.
So, I urge you again; sign up for that call and expect it to be a collaboration between you, your GTO and our gracious God.
