Make it Transformational: A Blog for Champion Discipleship

Money Follows Ministry

Oct 27, 2009

As you can tell by now we, at the Mission Increase Foundation (MIF), look at raising resources for your God-given vision in a very unique way.

We look at it last, not first.  Let me explain.

Many organizations (and I definitely include Christian organizations here) focus first on the bottom financial line, and then on people and relationships.  And leaders justify this thinking and approach by saying, “Well, if we don’t raise money then people and relationships and ministry will never happen.”

At MIF we definitely believe something different.

We believe that you’re called to focus on people and relationships first, and on moving your people through the Participation, Engagement, and Ownership process.  As you do, as you invest in your people, develop your people, and lead your people deeper into your cause, resources for the vision will begin to flow naturally.

Not overnight.

It’s called the Participation, Engagement, and Ownership process for a reason.  It takes time.

And to respond to the quote above, I would say this: Money follows ministry.

It really does.

So move forward in ministry.

Move forward in ministry to those whom God has called you to help, AND move forward in ministry to your own people.

Again, develop them.  Invest in them.  Disciple them.  Lead them deeper into your cause.  Focus on helping them reach their full potential in Christ.  As you do, so many other things will begin to fall into place.  (I think I’ve read something close to that in the Bible somewhere!)

In closing, here’s MIF’s Transformational Giving Principle #8…

Fundraising is the result of the PROCESS of inviting and equipping your people to share the cause and call that God has shared with you.
