Social Media: 'Everybody's Doing It'

Sep 4, 2009

Everywhere I look these days, it seems that blog postings, webinars, surveys, e-communication, keynote speakers, report findings, books , and newspaper /magazine articles are talking about social media (a.k.a. new media).  In an Agitator posting titled ‘Social Media Penetration Grows’, a recent study on U.S. social media usage was highlighted.  Author Tom Belford writes, “At this point, four out of five U.S. online adults report using social media at least once per month. Marketing: Talking about the cause -- Who & How??

Sep 3, 2009

In my last post on Aug 27th I outlined what marketing looks like from a Transformational Giving (TG) perspective.  The key (and radical) idea is that it's not your job to do marketing, but your best champions job to do marketing (your owners of the cause).  It's them that share the message of the cause with those in their sphere of influence and pass on the invitation to get involved.   Here's a question though... how ARE we training our champions to talk about the cause?  Do we hand them a...

Party On!

One step forward, two steps back

Aug 28, 2009

This past month, I've been noticing people around me who are 'living brochures' - individuals who passionately support a cause and recruit others in their sphere of influence to do the same thing.  Last week, I wrote about how Florida Gators quarterback, Tim Tebow, is a great real life example of a living brochure.    This posting by Greg Stier  - written in the form of a letter to Miley Cirus - paints a picture of a younger person taking steps both forward and backward as she hopefully...
